Amethyst

Amethyst is the stone most people picture when they picture a crystal, and it is the one that started this shop. It is quartz with a little iron in the mix, and the colour runs from barely-there lilac to a deep grape purple, usually strongest at the point of each crystal.

I carry it as clusters, towers, hearts, and druzy plates. The clusters are my favourite because you can see how the crystals grew into each other. Amethyst also takes an aura finish beautifully, and a rainbow aura amethyst is one of the most striking things in the shop.

Where mine come from. Most of mine comes from Brazil and Uruguay, with the occasional Karur piece from India.

What people reach for it for. People reach for amethyst when they want to feel calmer, and it has a long history as a stone of clear thinking.
