Sunstone

The flash is the whole point. Tiny mineral platelets sit in parallel inside the stone, and when the angle is right they all catch the light at once, so the piece seems to switch on.

The Tanzanian lattice sunstone I carry is the most dramatic version: the inclusions form a visible mesh, and the rainbow sits right on top of it.

Where mine come from. Tanzania, and some from Oregon.

What people reach for it for. Sunstone is traditionally the cheerful one, associated with warmth and confidence.
